Inside: Have you ever wanted a home decorating consultation but weren’t ready to hire an interior designer? I may be able to help.
Yesterday was the day I was going to get my life together. I bought groceries on the weekend and had a clear plan for the week, including exercise, eating right, working efficiently and spending time on my favorite leisure activities. By 10 am, the day was already an epic failure.
I suppose it didn’t help that I went to bed at 4am the night before and therefore slept until 10 the next morning.
Not the best way to start my new productive life, given that I slept through my workout and was too rushed to prepare that perfect healthy breakfast. Instead, I worked for the next 12 hours straight, didn’t speak to a soul, and got on the treadmill at 10:30pm. Really.
And so what did I think about while I was pounding through my workout? The same question I’m asked by so many people. Why do I blog? Why didn’t I just work for half the day and relax, eat right and work out at a normal hour? Why didn’t I do what I really wanted to do?
The answer is simple.
Because I *was* doing what I really wanted to do. Sometimes when I have an appointment out, all I want to do is get back to my desk and have a chance to concentrate, blissfully uninterrupted.
And the thing that most satisfies me when it comes to blogging is connecting with readers. So that brings me to something I’d like to experiment with…
and it has to do with you.
I’ve had many readers ask me for design input. Some send me photos, others ask for my opinion. But it dawned on me that I love to give styling tips and some of you have decor questions you’d love to ask. I enjoy connecting with readers and I think it would be nice to have a community here.
So I’m going to experiment with answering your design questions, a mini decorating consultation of sorts, posted on the blog and the first few will be completely free.
What I need from you is for you to send me a few photos, as clear as possible, of one room in your home that you would like help with. Include your first name and what you’re wrestling with in the particular space. Please only send photos if you are ok with me posting them on the blog. (I may edit to make them clearer if they’re too dark or not sharp enough.)
I haven’t decided yet how often I will do these posts and that will depend on how many of you send challenges. It would be nice to make it a weekly series, but time will tell if that’s workable.
Please also keep in mind that this is something I often do as a paid service, so for the free decorating consultation I’ll have to limit it to one room or area in your home and if I get a lot of requests, they will eventually be offered for a discounted fee.
I very much welcome a robust and respectful discussion in the comments from reader to reader so everyone can participate in giving input.
If this is something you are interested in, please email your photos to email@example.com. And if you’re selected for the next upcoming post, I just may be working on your space at 10pm on the treadmill!
