20 Minute Decorating: Christmas in July Edition
In this post: It’s never too early to plan for the holidays. These Christmas in July decorating ideas are super easy and can be completed in 20 minutes or less..⇒
When I first started blogging six years ago, I didn’t really understand that there was a calendar people followed.
I posted my Father’s Day table after Father’s Day, to show what my holiday table actually looked like, and posted my Thanksgiving decor in July because I saw something that reminded me of it. I shared my New Year’s party in August, because that’s when I thought of it, as I was organizing my pictures. It didn’t dawn on me that people wanted inspiration before the event, but not so far before that they couldn’t tell if it was early for the coming year or late for the past year.
Eventually I figured it out and got on board with the traditional calendar. I learned to offer a few limited things for the early adopters, pace myself through a season with a big push as things got closer and always tried to throw in something fresh for the ‘last minute Charlies’. I followed these conventions diligently for the next several years.
So imagine my confusion when I first came upon the custom of Christmas in July!
“Ridiculous!”, I thought at first. It gets earlier and earlier every year. Who is thinking of the holidays in the middle of the summer? Well, it turns out lots of people are. In fact the number of people searching for holiday decor in July is rather shocking!
It also turns out that this year, in particular, the numbers are even higher!
I suppose people are delighted to be planning for a holiday that they can enjoy celebrating at home… 🙂
