Have you got a piece of furniture that could use some freshening up? Here’s how I used shades of white chalk paint to update a vintage sideboard.

Even a white piece can use various shades to add interest and...

No priming necessary! Take an ugly old piece and just wipe it down.

STEP 1

PREP THE PIECE

For an antiqued look pick at least 3 colors even if they are all shades of white.

STEP 2

SELECT YOUR PAINT COLORS

Paint two flat coats.

STEP 3

USE THE DARKEST COLOR FOR THE BASE COAT

STEP 4

USE THE LIGHTER COLORS TO HIGHLIGHT THE DETAILS

STEP 5

FINISH OFF WITH 2 COATS OF CLEAR WAX

MORE TIPS

Remove any hardware before painting. Take drawers out and paint separately. Let wax dry overnight before buffing. You can always paint over any mistakes.
