French Country Fridays 31: Savoring the Charm of French Inspired Decor
Welcome to French Country Fridays 31, a place to celebrate the charm of French inspired decor!
Where do you all stand on painted furniture? I know some people love it and others think wood should never be painted. I stand firmly in the “it depends” camp. Some woods are so pretty, it would never dawn on me to change them. And others are just calling out to be painted.
As it turns out, I’ve been wanting to try my hand at this for a long time. I think I finally have the right project to tackle. It’s a very small piece I found at my parents’ house and it’s already been painted, so there’s no agonizing over whether the wood should stay natural.
Now all I have to do is learn how to paint furniture! Not sure how this will turn out, so wish me luck… 🙂

Ist Dibs auctions had a 19th c estanier for $3400 recently. It did have all five finials. If I were ever lucky enough to find one, I would put it on a wall by itself and redo my entire dining room around it. I showed my husband and he said, “You better not find one because I don’t even OWN a saw.” Well, a woman can dream. Lucky you. Your husband is so skilled at woodworking.
Thanks, Nancy, but that post is one I shared from my friend Cindy’s blog. Her blog is Edith and Evelyn Vintage. So glad you enjoyed it!!
