In this post: Looking to make your Easter table special?  These Easter table decor ideas will inspire you to up your game for a beautiful holiday table setting.⇒

Easter table with poppy bowls

What makes a table setting beautiful?

Did you ever wonder this?

Why is it that some people use the same formal china over and over and never quite pull off a truly exceptional table and yet others just have a knack for pairing disparate elements together that when combined add up to something better than the pieces alone?

Something more unique.

And special.

Indeed something beautiful.

I can’t really say for sure when I started to enjoy the process of setting tables but I do know that somewhere along the way I began to appreciate the creativity behind the practice.

Setting lovely tables is most definitely an art and doing it well, at least in my opinion, involves more than laying out matching dishes and placing them according to dictated rules.

For me, the magic lies in the artful mix, much as it does in decorating a room or putting together an outfit. It’s the combination of the pieces that creates the beautiful whole, and the best designers learn that the marriage of those pieces is more important than any single item by itself.

(You can see this, for example, in the brilliance of the perfect white shirt or little black dress, as their design is best appreciated in how they complement an outfit.)

Styling, it turns out, is my true passion for exactly this reason.

So when it comes to putting together a table and selecting the elements, it’s not enough to shop for pretty pieces. It matters how they work together, in fact, that’s the entire point.

For today’s table I wanted something seasonal for spring that could also be adapted specifically for Easter.

I’m joining with a group of my favorite bloggers to bring you inspiration for the upcoming spring holidays.  Be sure to visit the other posts at the bottom of this one!

The most important component of this seasonal table is a great example of perfect design in that it’s exquisite and charming in and of itself, and yet it is easily incorporated into a table full of other decorative pieces.

I’m talking about the stunning frosted glass poppy bowls from Annieglass, with 24k gold accents on the delicately curled edges. I’ve coupled them with dinner plates that are vintage Limoges, as the gilding ties them elegantly together. These enchanting bowls can be used in a variety of ways on your table, including for salad or fruit, or with floating flowers or candles, as well.

(This post was sponsored by Annieglass, but all opinions and love of the product are purely my own.)

The larger two sizes of the bowls are absolutely gorgeous and have a place of honor on my table as the primary centerpiece.

You can see them, below, playing the role of Easter “basket”, bedecked with speckled Easter eggs for a holiday dinner.

Alternatively, above, they are simply scattered with cherry blossoms for a celebration that can extend well through the spring season into summer.

The accompanying pieces on the table blend well with the delightful bowls. The napkins are akin to that perfect white shirt, in linen and embellished with an understated tonal embroidery, subtle and well tailored with just a hint of flair.

The butterfly napkin rings add a bit of jewelry to the mix, with pale gentle colors paralleling the frosted glass of the bowls.

The silver flatware is vintage with an orchid motif.

Wine goblets in cut crystal are classic in pattern, with just enough interest to reflect the light in the room.

The florals are springy and casually arranged, gathering pink ranunculus, cream roses and green hydrangeas in a pair of simple vases.

The sweet tulip votive holders were found on a trip to Greece, and I enjoy the quiet way they round out the tableau.

If, like me, you approach table settings with an eagerness that gets your creative juices flowing, I hope you’re inspired to get a pretty Easter table together.

There’s no better way to show respect for the guests who will sit at your table, than to put the effort into setting the most beautiful table you can dream up!

Lovely table. I think it’s not only a sense of style, but color and richness. Way back when it wasn’t called “tablescaping” but I loved a pretty table, like my mother.
When I moved here and was invited to a holiday dinner, imagine my surprise when she didn’t own a real set of dishes. It was one step up from paper plates.
