Kitchen Decor: 6 Super Easy and Quick Valentines Day Decor Ideas
In this post: You can keep it simple when adding Valentines Day decor to your home. These super easy and quick kitchen decor ideas will help you celebrate the day.⇒

How many of you start decorating for Valentine’s Day right after New Year’s and keep the decorations up well into March?
Yeah, neither do I.
The truth is, for many of us Valentine’s Day is just an afterthought, or not even a thought at all.
Maybe you buy a card for someone special. Maybe you send candy or sweets to those you love. Maybe you brave the crowds and over-priced menus and reserve a dinner out. But you probably don’t put the energy into this that you do for holiday or even fall decorating.
Yet, a few last minute quick and easy tweaks can add a festive and romantic air to your home and uplift your spirits for Valentine’s Day.

Valentines Day Decor
You don’t need to be celebrating with anyone in particular to enjoy these little flourishes. They are designed to delight even just one person and add a little brightness to your day. For a couple or a crowd, even more people to appreciate these little luxuries!
In any case, they take only minutes to arrange and can transform your home, even at the last minute, to add a little romantic flavor to your Valentine’s Day.
I chose to add these touches to my kitchen, but they really can be incorporated anywhere in your home.
I’m sharing these Valentines Day decor ideas for this month’s installment of “20 Minute Decorating”, the monthly series I host with several of my blogger friends, because 20 minutes is all you’ll need. Be sure to check out all the other posts at the bottom of this one.

1. Velvet Hearts
The most apt place to start is with a little silver bowl full of velvet hearts. The ones featured here were sent from my sponsor LoveFeast shop and they set the tone with a charming and soft color palette. I love the rich luster of the gorgeous velvet and the sweet golden crowns offer a true “crowning touch”.
I tend to prefer pinks over real red, but if red is your thing, you can go that route, too. The key is a cluster of whimsical hearts, gracefully presented.

2. Pretty Decorative Sweets
I’m going to admit up front, this is my favorite aspect of our Valentines Day decor! I don’t often buy sweets, so this is a real treat. The cake stand is new and I wanted to showcase it on the island and I was looking for fast and simple, so I wasn’t planning on baking or creating fondant flowers myself.
Instead I headed to the market in search of something pretty, pink and romantic and sure enough I found these exquisite cupcakes.
The same effect could be achieved with a flower-decorated cake or heart shaped confection, or if you’re talented and have more than 20 minutes to spare, perhaps with something you create yourself.

3. Cherry Blossom Branches
This is the perfect time of year to introduce cherry blossom branches because they’re a wonderful lead in to the upcoming season. The color works well for Valentine’s Day, while the pretty little buds on the woodsy branches act as a visual bridge between winter and spring. Pop them in an urn where you can really appreciate them, then leave them there for the next little while.

4. Pink Candles
What could be more romantic than candlelight? I have pink frosted pillar candles that I use rather often and I’ve placed one by the cooktop on a small silver platter. The glow makes it look yellow, but it’s pink indeed. A scented candle brings even more to the mix to add that bit of bliss we’re going for with Valentines Day decor.

5. “Love” Tea Towels
I’m a huge fan of printed linens, particularly elegant white tea towels, made all the more lovely with refined and feminine graphics. In this case I used the image from my “Peony Love” pillow that I created a while back, but any delicate French or vintage artwork might do, as well.
Bonus points for hearts or the word ‘Love’ on your tea towel!

6. Romantic Floral Arrangements
This one, of course, comes as no surprise to anyone, because floral arrangements are on my list for almost any kind of decor. But for Valentine’s Day they’re exceptionally appropriate.
The big surprise here is that most of my florals are faux. Only the tiny low arrangement at the front of the tray is fresh. I spent a little bit of time searching for really good faux flowers and the tulips and roses, in particular, are incredibly realistic. Not only do they look real up close, but they feel real to the touch, too!
It’s the perfect solution to winter’s limited array of fresh flowers. Use real looking faux and supplement the display with a bit of fresh. The aroma they add will put a realistic spin on the whole endeavor.

I never take Valentine’s Day too seriously, but I truly do enjoy a celebration of a romantic way of living. The sudden burst of color, regardless of how soft, is a welcome lift to the doldrums of winter.
And really, is there any question that a cupcake can’t answer?
