In this post: Looking to create an elegant and unique holiday table setting? Try using gold and pink Christmas decorations in your table decor.⇒
What’s the first thing you think of when you think of Christmas?
How many of you said pink peonies?
Hmm… no one??
That’s ok. I kind of pride myself on being a bit of a rebel.
I’ve always been comfortable with breaking some of the decorating rules, particularly when it comes to traditional dictates. White shoes after Labor Day? Sign me up! Mix and match patterns that blend more than they match? I’m in!
While I love Old World pedigree, I prefer to style things in my own way.
Today I’m joining with a talented group of bloggers to bring you our Holiday Entertaining Blog Tour, focusing on inspiration for the Christmas holidays. Be sure to visit the other posts linked at the bottom of this one.
My home style is defined by soft feminine colors, punctuated by a touch of bling, so it only stands to reason that for Christmas my table is brimming with pinks and golds.
(I explained my fascination with rose gold for the holidays in this recent post.)
I’ve been thrilled the last few weeks to find peonies at the florists, and all the better, in my favorite soft pink color.
I knew they needed to be featured prominently on my holiday table, as I’d already decided this was the palette I wanted to work with.
I’ve also been crushing on this gilded stemware, so that marriage right there drove the direction of my table.
The Plate Stack
There’s no question, I’m a mix-and-matcher, and I approach my tablescapes the way I approach my rooms. I select a color feeling and a pattern or two and the rest just needs to blend comfortably.
Here I began with golden chargers, topped with two different cream textured plates. The crowning touch is a petite plate in a vintage china floral with gilded edging.
(See source list at the bottom of the post).
The napkins are a blush linen ruffle gathered in a copper napkin ring. The mix of gold and copper mirrors the use of varied pink tones, as well as the whites mixed with creams.
The key is to stay on the warm side of the color wheel and keep everything soft and subtle
I’m over the moon in love with these flutes and goblets. They’re actually rather small yet they make a bold statement on the table.
Bolstering the floral centerpiece is the placement of greenery along the center of the table, peppered with rose gold ornaments in varied finishes.
They add just the right note of holiday glimmer and are the perfect bridge between pink and gold.
Another favorite that I’m crazy about is this wonderful ruffled linen tablecloth with a relaxed chic vibe. It keeps all the gilding from getting too serious and dusts the floor with just the right drape.
Tiny glass dessert cups serve up holiday ornaments at each place setting.
The warm rosy glow is exactly the look I was going for at this elegant Christmas table. It’s welcoming and festive and provides the precise feeling you want for your guests.
So maybe it’s not your typical Christmas palette but it suits my taste all the better.
Sometimes it pays to be a rebel.
