Summer Printables: French Floral Mason Jar Labels
In this post: If you’re looking to add a little something extra to your floral arrangements, try using these FREE summer printables to create pretty mason jar labels.⇒
I’m looking for a light and airy summer.
You know the kind. Gentle, relaxed, simple, breezy. I’m not talking about the weather, but rather a state of mind.
I’m at a stage in my life where I want to slow down, take it down a notch, and try to uncomplicate everything. It’s part of paring back, no doubt. But it’s not just my things. I want to declutter my lifestyle, as well.
I want sweet and simple rather than over-the-top. Quiet and calm rather than bold and boisterous. Soothing and serene rather than bustling and intense.
This inclination is revealing itself in the decor I’m attracted to now, as well. In past summers I’ve gravitated toward bright hearty colors with my palette warming as the temperatures heat up. But this year I find myself leaning more toward pale summer colors and lots of billowy white.
It’s more ‘picnic in the country’ than ‘day on a crowded beach’.
To parallel this preference, I’m favoring simple florals in understated containers. A cluster of three bouquets in separate jars, each with a different flower type, is a lovely way to achieve this goal. Add a few pretty little enhancements like raffia tied ribbon and apothecary labels and the presentation is complete.
I’ve created a trio of mason jar labels inspired by summer florals, French phrases and vintage seed packets and I’m offering them as FREE printables.
How to Make Mason Jar Labels
For my mason jar labels, I started with a loose and splattered watercolor background to give the label a vintage look. Then I layered in floral sprays and finished off with French summer phrases, including Les Fleurs (the flowers), J’adore l’été (I love summertime) and Il fait beau (the weather is beautiful).
To make these at home, follow the instructions below.
1. Download the art to your computer.
2. Insert the paper stock into the printer. (See my tips below.)
3. Print out the art on 8 1/2” x 11” paper.
4. Cut out the template, trying to cut right inside the lines (so they are not visible on the finished piece).
5. Tape or glue the label to the mason jar. I use double stick tape because it’s simple to use and easy to remove.
6. Tie raffia or ribbon around the neck of the jar. Fill with water and flowers.
Some Extra Tips for Your Mason Jar Labels
- Be sure to note where you’ve downloaded the file so you can easily locate it to print.
- Use good quality card stock or matte photo paper.
- Choose the highest quality print setting (i.e. the setting for printing images on photo paper).
- Use a paper cutter or craft knife and ruler to ensure straight edges when cutting.
- Apply the double-stick tape as close to the edge as possible. I tape only the sides, but extend from the very top to the very bottom of the label.
If you are looking to slow it down a bit, too, perhaps a little crafty project is just what you need. It’s super easy and can be completed in no time.
Treat yourself to the luxury of flowers and the charm of pretty containers. Picnic in the country not included…
but I still highly recommend it!
