French Country Fridays 33: Savoring the Charm of French Inspired Decor

Welcome to French Country Fridays 33, a place to celebrate the charm of French inspired decor!

I have to admit, I’m trying to take it slow with fall decor, because I don’t want to be sick of it by the time Thanksgiving rolls around. But that said, I’m really inspired and kind of want to dive right in. Most years, I start with light colors and gradually beef up my palette, so that by the time we’re into November, I’m well into the richer hues.

I do want to say something about my opinion on colors, as one reader was offended by me saying I’m not a big fan of traditional fall colors. First, I never want to insult anyone else’s taste and I hope it’s clear that when I state a preference, it’s simply what I like to live with in my home. Second, what I like today, I may not like tomorrow, so if I don’t love your favorite colors right now, believe me at some point they were, or will be, among my decor choices. And finally, there are so many ways to interpret various design styles, and anything done well, even if its not my favorite look, can certainly be appreciated by me.

In fact, sometimes I like to purposely challenge myself to work within a style that’s not part of my usual repertoire. Be on the lookout for a modern space coming soon. Not what I typically do, and yet I’m loving it!
