Townhouse Tour | Part 1 | Main Level
Welcome to my home!
Several years ago, when my adult children moved out on their own, we moved from our family home in a neighboring town to the townhouse we currently live in. It was newer and quite spacious, but was also modern and a bit bland. The bathrooms were all ‘builder grade’ and the house was lacking character. We have spent the past few years making this home our own, updating it to our taste level, while ensuring it serves our needs as empty nesters. I invite you to visit the tour and then follow along as we continue to refine this home into a modern version of a french-inspired townhome.

We moved from a classic old brick home with lots of character and patina into this new townhouse with oodles of space, but not much intrinsic personality. From the outside it looks like every other house on the street, but once inside, you’ll note we’re slowly turning it into our French-inspired retreat. My design philosophy is to start with a classic underpinning of timeless ‘quiet-luxury’ pieces, then accessorize with layers of vintage accents, particularly those with a European feel. The open layout is decidedly American, which suits our empty-nester lifestyle.
Our tour begins on the main floor, which includes the living spaces, dining areas, kitchen, home office and a few other specific-use spaces.
If you click on the links below (the room names), you will be taken to the full posts that show each room in greater detail, with resource information, as well. At the bottom there’s a link to take you to Part 2 of this tour, the Upper Level, as well as Part 3, the Lower Level.
Come on in and enjoy!
