French Country Fridays 4: Celebrating the Charm of French Inspired Decor
Welcome to French Country Fridays 4, a place to celebrate the charm of French inspired decor!
It’s an interesting thing, having a passion for a particular culture, especially when it’s not one that’s your own tradition or background. And while I love all things French, it’s certainly not the only culture that has my heart. But still, I am a committed francophile. I’ve often wondered where this interest came from, because it does seem to go way back.
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I began learning the language at 8 years old. It wasn’t taught in all the classes at the time, but I was lucky enough to have gained entry into the one and only class in my grade where French was being taught at my school. I continued taking French all the way up through high school and by the time I took my first trip to Paris in 1985 (more about that next time), I had a reasonable enough command of the language to get by (however clumsily).
But language aside, it’s French design that really has me enamored. I’m convinced there must’ve been some seminole moment in my life that brought on this love affair, but I’ve yet to uncover what it is. While I ponder that, I’d love to hear in the comments when and how you fell in love with French Country… or any other culture or style that’s grabbed your heart.

I love European décor, primarily French but not only. I love the simplicity, soft colors, gilding, sparkle and the harmonious display of different things, that may not otherwise seem so special. I wish I had the knack to make things look the way you do. Love this blog thank you for the inspiration. Always looking forward to the next one!
