Holiday Kitchen Gadgets, Cooking Utensils, Best Kitchen Tools and Decor
In this post: Is your kitchen equipped for holiday entertaining? This guide features kitchen gadgets, cooking utensils, the best kitchen tools and decor.⇒
How many of you expect to spend time in the kitchen in the next month or so?
If ever there was a time of year to make sure your kitchen is well equipped, this is it. Whether you will be hosting holidays in your own home, bringing potluck to someone else’s, or feeding guests who are staying with you, most of us can expect to spend at least a little extra time in the kitchen.
There are turkeys to be roasted, cookies to be baked, cocktails to be mixed and complete multi-course dinners to be served.
Is your kitchen ready?
Upgrading your kitchenware can encompass many different areas both practical and decorative, and today I’m sharing my curated recommendations for 5 different categories that are likely to be most used during the holiday season, including cookware, bakeware, serving pieces, kitchen decor and holiday ornaments and decorations.
I’ve chosen the ever-popular blue and white color palette, with a selection of chinoiserie decor to match, but most of the kitchen items come in other color ways, as well. You’ll see several of my own personal faves that I’ve shared before, along with a few that I recently added to my kitchen collection and lots of new must-haves.
My picks have been culled from the broad range offered by Walmart Home as they are quality items that are well priced. As always, Walmart’s easy shipping and return policy is a huge plus. And their assortment can’t be beat.

Kitchen Cookware
The first category is kitchen cookware. The two things I went years without that I finally added to my kitchen are the roasting pan (no more throw away pans!) and the meat thermometer. Why not make life easier with the right tools? If you don’t have a good set of knives, those are a must, as well.
Bakeware
If you cook nothing else at this time of year, there’s still a good chance you do holiday baking. Perhaps you swap cookies with a group of friends or bring your favorite dessert as a hostess gift to a holiday party.
And if baking is not part of your tradition, maybe this is the year to start? With enticing items like these, who wouldn’t want to start whipping up some delicious treats?
I’m smitten with the midnight blue baking pans and the pretty pale blue bowls, but, truth be told, the item at the top of my list – one that I’ve wanted for a long time – is the hand mixer. Call it mine now!
Serving Pieces
The real fun begins when we get to the serving pieces, because of course you want to make your culinary efforts look as good as they taste. Presentation is key and can make even the simplest dishes look visually appealing.
I tend to favor white platters for food, but I’m loving the organic wood and rattan trend lately. Tranquil blue pieces in varying shades are tempting, as well.
Blue and White Chinoiserie
A lovely way to perk up your holiday kitchen is to sprinkle bits of blue and white chinoiserie around it. Vases, bowls and ginger jars look wonderful on the counters, and napkins and tablecloths can upgrade your dining table. Mix in a few pristine white porcelain pieces to keep it light and bright.
I love to use platters leaning against the backsplash behind the cooktop. They add color and can easily be cleaned by popping them in the dishwasher. When you get tired of one, switch it out for another. Instant makeover!
Holiday Ornaments and Small Decor
My last category is holiday ornaments and other small decor, to toss among the vignettes that are displayed in the kitchen. If you choose a blue and white theme, as I have done here, the items in this grouping will enhance the look.
The classic blue and white china pieces are a natural in this category, but I’m particularly partial to the sweet little bear and the adorable hanging gnome. The knits are ever-so-charming which is a lovely touch for the kitchen.
And after all, adding warmth and enchantment to your days is what the holiday kitchen is all about!
