Fall Bathroom Decor: Easy Ways to Add Autumn Decor to Your Bathroom
In this post: Why limit autumn decor to the living room or porch? These fall bathroom decor ideas will add seasonal warmth to your morning routine. ⇒
Tell me if this makes sense.
You love fall.
You love the colorful decor, the spicy scents, the cozy fabrics and the harvest foods. You buy pumpkins, perhaps a wreath, and all the mums you can fit in your car.
Then you place them outside your home where you can’t see them.
Fall Bathroom Decor
Wouldn’t it make a lot more sense to enjoy the season INSIDE your home?
And not only in your living room and entryway where you may already be decorating. But how about some autumnal joy right when you wake up?
Why not try some pretty seasonal cheer where you go through the steps of your morning routine? Shouldn’t you be inspired first thing in the morning in the place you get dressed?
Whether you have a tiny bathroom with space for only one pumpkin spice candle or a spacious bathroom suite, adding fall bathroom decor to your home is one of those simple pleasures that makes life just a bit more flavorful.
Here are easy ways to add autumn decor to your bathroom.
Fall Florals
Ok, I’ll admit it. There’s not a room in the house nor a season of the year that I don’t think flowers can help make more beautiful. But they are especially well-suited to the bathroom, with all that humidity.
One floral arrangement has the ability to define a color palette, provide seasonal signals (like berries, fruits or grasses) and add scent to a room.
A small display on the vanity can start your day off right. If you have more space, spread your arrangements around the room so they can ‘talk to each other’ in their visual language.
Be sure the colors work well with each other if not matching exactly.
Vintage Planters and Urns
These are not seasonal, per se, and yet so many vintage planters with their chippy and aged patinas seem to scream fall.
Fill a large galvanized zinc planter with lush antique hydrangeas and let them dry right there in the pot. Stoneware jugs, wooden vases and ancient cement urns work equally as well. Terracotta, of course, is a natural for fall, as is wicker and rattan.
The look you’re going for is something that appears to have been left outdoors all summer, for years and years.
Warm Metals
No matter what metal you’ve used for your bathroom hardware, you can still bring in the warmth of brass and copper. I mix them together and pair a variety of tones.
Use brass candlesticks in multiple sizes, aged golden letters, picture frames or a gilded clock. Accent with copper decorative pieces, as well, for a range of fall hues that parallel the changing leaves on the trees.
A Staged Vignette
If you have a surface like a table or a tub surround, or even the space between your double sinks, you can style a pretty vignette to bring several fall concepts together.
Start with a lovely tray, in copper, gold or rattan, add a few objects of different heights, possibly with flowers or greenery, and then toss in some squat seasonal items to ground the presentation.
Try faux artichokes, baby boo pumpkins, pears or small gourds. Style with balance and movement in mind.
Candlelight
If you’re like me, you already have candles in the bathroom. But they don’t add much when they’re not lit. Make a habit of lighting candles for their lovely scent and the enchantment of their warm glow.
Make your morning rituals more relaxing with candlelight. If you’re showering, styling your hair and putting on makeup, that’s plenty of time to keep candles lit for a while.
A Few More Ideas
- Drape a cozy plush robe over the tub or a nearby hook
- Use seasonal scented soaps and body wash
- A bowl with autumn potpourri is pleasant in the bathroom
- Toss a few small velvet pumpkins into the mix
- Rattan baskets make great laundry hampers and are perfect for fall
It doesn’t take much to bring fall charm into your home and it’s well worth the effort to pay attention to the areas where you start your day.
Sprinkle a little autumn cheer around your house and when you walk into a room you’ll appreciate it all over again.
And when you’re done, you may still have a few left over mums for the front porch!
