New Years Party Themes: Tablescape with Timepieces
In this post: If you’re looking for New Years Party themes, why not celebrate the passage of time by using clocks and timepieces in your decor?⇒
My favorite tablescapes tend to be conceptual in nature. Perhaps this is leftover from my days as a sportswear designer, but rarely do I just pile pretty objects on the table without a thematic foundation. In some small way my tables attempt to tell a story through imagery, color and pattern. This is how I came to one of my favorite New Years Eve party themes.
Since this particular setting was done for a New Year’s Eve dinner party, my concept was built around timepiece visuals, representing the passage of time. The napkin rings were made utilizing classic wire jewelry tools, joining a clock face charm, a labradorite bead and a simple crystal ring.
The table was heaped with plenty of crystal and silver to enhance the splash and sizzle one expects from a New Year’s celebration. DIY place cards incorporated vintage clock images, another nod to the time passage theme.
(See resource list below.)
Canapes plates encourage a toast for the New Year.
The floral arrangements are comprised of golden yellow roses and white hydrangeas, with festive grass strands mimicking the arc of fireworks.
At the center of the table three mercury glass vases are topped with glinting holiday globes, an homage paid to the Times Square ball that drops as the New Year arrives.
The table is alight with glimmering golds and sparkling crystal, all set against a formal white damask tablecloth and snowy embroidered napkins.
The table is simple and easy to put together, yet grand enough for the occasion. What better way to ring in the New Year?

What a stunning tablescape, it would be gorgeous for a golden wedding anniversary or even a small wedding table. I love how you have mixed different metals and textures and those crystal balls are a clever surprise. I love your style, you are a very talented stylist and I look forward to more of your blog.
PS. Thank you for visiting my blog and the encouraging comments about my home and style. I am doing some renovations to my house this summer (your winter) and will be posting about them as I go along.

Wow, huge compliment coming from you! Thanks!! I look forward to seeing what you’ve got coming up… 🙂
Lovely and elegant. I love the thought put into all of your details, especially the glittery balls suggesting the crystal-covered ball that drops in Times Square. I love your crystal pattern and how it reflects the pattern on your dining chairs. No little detail is overlooked!
Thanks for taking the time to notice all the bits, Chloe! The crystal pattern is Ralph Lauren’s Glen Plaid. I think I forgot to credit it, but I use them all the time, so I’m sure it’s in many of the posts… 🙂

Gorgeous table setting, Lory! I love the elements that put it over the top (something you’re particularly good at), like the time pieces and homage to the Times Square ball drop. Happy Hanukkah and best of everything in the coming year. Hugs!
