• How do you remove a piece of pasta from a pot of boiling water to test whether it is done? Use chopsticks to pluck a piece out.

8. INSPIRATION: Need ideas to decorate, organize, and clean your kitchen? Here are 60+ tried-and-true ideas to help! Independence Day is on Thursday. Make a simple patriotic arrangement that will add a bit of red, white, and blue to your home in an edited way.

9. CULINARY CORNER: Don’t waste the last bits of food like jam, pesto, or mayonnaise in the bottom of a jar. Use it to make a quick vinaigrette. Add vinegar, oil, salt, and pepper. Shake the jar well to mix. Pour over your salad for a burst of flavor, or use it as a marinade. This simple trick turns scraps into a tasty dressing.
