Have you got a New Year’s Eve style? Are you the big bash type or the quiet evening at home fan?
I’m definitely somewhere in between, although I certainly lean more toward the party side. I’ve always loved New Year’s and probably give it way more importance than it merits, but I once heard that what you do on New Year’s forecasts what your year will be like and so I put a lot of effort into planning my idea of a perfect evening.
In the old days, that meant big parties. Later on, it became weekends in Manhattan (taking advantage of being a born and bred New Yorker). But these days, I enjoy a small gathering of friends, usually spent at least in part at home. It might be cocktails at home and then dinner out, a full dinner party at home, or dinner out and then dessert at home. In any case, it generally includes dressing my home with New Years Eve Decorations and over the years I’ve fine tuned my style.
Today I’m sharing my New Year’s posts from the past few years, along with some ideas below for how you can decorate your home for a festive celebration.
